Chilean Wine Shipments to Russia (US$)
Wine
Chile has outstanding conditions for producing wine. From north to south, we have more than 1,200 kilometres of wine regions, which have a Mediterranean climate and a broad variety of soils. To the east they are protected by the Andes mountain chain, while to the west the Humboldt Current of the Pacific Ocean moderates temperatures.
These characteristics provide great diversity, bringing quality, personality, varietal character, intense colour, delicate aromas and unique flavours to the wines. Chile is world-renowned as a producer and exporter of wine. Our wines are present in more than 150 countries and they play an important role in Chile’s image abroad.
With more than 450 years of winemaking experience, Chile is now the fourth biggest exporter of wine in the world, selling more than US$1.3 billion in bottled wine to November 2015. It is the ninth largest producer worldwide.

Dried and dehydrated fruits
Chile has a pleasant Mediterranean climate and the ability to produce counter-seasonally to the northern hemisphere. This has enabled the country to become one of the principal exporters of dried and dehydrated fruits and nuts. Chile is the world’s number one exporter of prunes and dehydrated apples and number two in hazelnut exports. Chile is also the biggest exporter in the Southern Hemisphere of walnuts and third in the world.
Chilean dried and dehydrated fruits and nuts have superior organoleptic characteristics, so they are able to enter even the most demanding markets.
Chile’s principal dried and dehydrated fruits and nuts are walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, prunes, dehydrated apples and raisins, which have experienced very dynamic development in recent years.

Olive Oil
Our olive groves extend from north to south and are blessed by climatic conditions and soils which are very similar to the Mediterranean birthplace of olives. Cutting-edge technology and the selection of the best varieties of olives help explain the rapid growth in exports over the last decade.
Olive oil production begins with the careful harvesting of the olives, to protect the fruit from bruising. The oil extraction process must begin within 24 hours from harvesting, so as to ensure that the very best and most aromatic extra virgin olive oil is produced. The result is an extraordinary product, able to compete with the best in the world.
95% of production complies with the requirements for being labelled “Extra Virgin”. Chilean extra virgin olive oil is available as a single variety or in blends and in different types of packaging.
Because of its nutritional properties, it is in high demand overseas.
To November 2015 Chilean olive oil exports to Russia reached USD 122,472.
