Fair
SIAL 2016
Chile and its foods are to attend one of the world’s most important trade fairs. Chilean producers will be showcasing a representative range of food products at this event featuring the latest world trends in the food sector.
Chile will have a pavilion measuring almost 600m2 in Hall 8, aisles 8C 018, 8C 048 and 8C 066. 39 exhibitors will be there to show the best of Chilean food products, including dried and dehydrated fruits and fruit pulp. Four women-led SMEs will also present organic food, wines, beers, superfoods and functional foods, which either naturally or in their processed form contain components that are beneficial to health over and above their nutritional value.
This year, as region of honour, Latin America will have a demonstration and tasting area, where there will be different activities every day of SIAL 2016. Chile will demonstrate a range of dishes and products to visitors, importers and anyone else with an interest in their food products.
Between 16 and 20 October 2016, we invite you to visit us and learn about Chile and its foods, which are world-renowned for their quality and safety.

Chile
With 26 Free Trade Agreements (FTA) signed with 64 economies, Chile has free access to the world’s biggest markets.
Chile has preferential access to 64.1% of the world’s population and 86.3% of global GDP.
In 2015, Chilean exports totalled US$63.3 billion.
A highly educated workforce, solid macroeconomic foundations, legal guarantees for foreign investors and its respected international image are some of the keys to Chile’s position as a country that can be trusted.
A supplier or reliable food products
Chile is a country with great natural and human potential in a terrain of surprising geographical and climatic contrasts. This unique character means that it has unrivalled conditions for producing fresh, pure, healthy food products whose quality and attributes are appreciated around the world.
The country has the clearest skies in the world, as well as major reserves of fresh water. Thanks to its natural characteristics, it is protected by natural barriers at all four compass points: the Atacama Desert to the north, the Andes Mountains to the east, the Antarctic ice fields to the south and the Pacific Ocean to the west. All these barriers make it a phytosanitary island, reducing the incidence of pests and diseases. It also has a Mediterranean climate that is beneficial to obtaining high quality raw materials and scaled production, which is counter-seasonal to the Northern Hemisphere.

The attributes of Chilean food
Food Safety: Natural phytosanitary barriers that isolate Chilean foods, keeping them free from pests and diseases. Chile does not have foot-and-mouth disease, fruit flies, phylloxera or other pests and diseases.
Quality: The result of our combination of geography, climate, experience and professionalism. A set of characteristics that make Chile a source of food products that are world-renowned for their quality.
International guarantee: Valued and recognized by global markets. Thanks to its attributes and its long history of international trade, Chile guarantees its products, which are valued by consumers on every continent.
Traceability: Monitoring of the entire production process in accordance with strict quality standards means that Chilean producers are able to offer certified products.
Natural flavour: Purity and freshness from the place of origin. Chile’s climatic and geographic conditions, such as very warm summers, cool winters and mineral-rich soils, make its food products a source of life.
FOODS: Quality, innocuous, traceable products with international guarantees and natural flavour.
FROM: Unique, pristine nature, protected by natural barriers that transform it into a phytosanitary island.
CHILE: A way of being and acting; a community that reveals the will to work on all the processes and combines technology with ancient knowledge.

Sustainability
Chile’s food industry has implemented a range of advances to improve its social and environmental performance. Both companies and their employees have made a commitment to improving conditions, processes and the products they make.
For instance, our fruit and vegetables and wine and spirits industries are among those that have implemented initiatives relating to energy use, waste management, climate change and community engagement. They have also earned different types of certification in order to guarantee that they are meeting the requirements of international markets and consumers around the world.
On 7 April this year, the Agriculture Ministry signed an agreement to widen access for Chilean organic products into the European Union. This deal gives organic producers in both Chile and the EU access to a bigger market, reduces the administrative burden for producers and companies and it will also make more organic products available to both European and Chilean consumers.
