DAIRY PRODUCTS
Chile has a modern dairy industry, which comprises more than 6,000 commercial producers, who are particularly concentrated into the Los Ríos and Los Lagos regions. Chile has one million hectares of grazing land and 500,000 milk cows, twenty large milk plants, including some transnational ones, and almost one hundred small- and medium-sized cheese production plants.
The dairy industry produces in an exceptionally natural, disease-free environment and our producers have many years of experience. The milk and its derivatives are processed using state-of-the-art technology and under strictly controlled hygiene standards. Chilean dairy products have the true taste of the countryside; they are flavourful, healthy and innovative.
The industrial plants meet high standards in terms of quality assurance, which make it possible to guarantee a result that complies with domestic and international standards. Some companies have ISO certification and control their processes through a management system based on international quality standards like GMP and HACCP. Similarly, some companies have categories of products with special certifications, like Kosher, in order to address the challenges posed by different international markets.

Milk production totalled 2.650 billion litres and generated 130,000 tonnes of cheese and 100,000 tonnes of powdered milk and other products.
Chilean dairy production has the advantages of a favourable climate for setting up and making use of pasture land, sanitary barriers and a good country image.
