Wines
Chile has outstanding conditions for producing wine. From north to south, we have more than 1,200 kilometres of wine regions, which have a Mediterranean climate and a broad variety of soils. To the east they are protected by the Andes mountain chain, while to the west the Humboldt Current of the Pacific Ocean moderates temperatures.
These characteristics provide great diversity, bringing quality, personality, varietal character, intense colour, delicate aromas and unique flavours to the wines. Chile is world-renowned as a producer and exporter of wine. Our wines are present in more than 150 countries and they play an important role in Chile’s image abroad.
With more than 450 years of winemaking experience, Chile is now the fourth biggest exporter of wine in the world, selling more than US$1.3 billion in bottled wine to November 2015. It is the ninth largest producer worldwide.

The Wines of Chile Sustainability Code
The WoC Sustainability Code was developed specifically for the Chilean wine industry to set standards and provide a tool for measuring various sustainable practices throughout the entire winemaking value chain and comprises a set of initiatives and projects that aim to guide the industry toward sustainability, understood as the convergence of production processes that are environmentally friendly, socially equitable, and economically viable. Thus, the Code addresses the wine sector’s needs for sustainable practices in three areas –Vineyard (Green Chapter), Winery (Red Chapter), and Community (Orange Chapter), and provides a Checklist of control points to be evaluated and a Manual with recommendations for each control point.
Its comprehensive approach makes Wines of Chile’s Sustainability Code the most ambitious and comprehensive code among wine producing nations.

Foods from Chile, source of life
Chile is a country with great natural and human potential located in a place of amazing geographical and climatic contrasts. Chile’s unique characteristics lend its unrivalled conditions for producing fresh, pure, healthy, good quality food which is appreciated around the world.
Chile has the most transparent skies on Earth and possesses some of the world’s most significant freshwater reserves. Natural barriers at all four compass points protect Chile, converting it into a true phytosanitary island, thereby reducing the incidence of pests and diseases.
As it is such a long country, Chile has an unusually varied range of climates. One that particularly stands out is the Mediterranean climate, which has enabled Chile to become a major food producer. This climate is especially advantageous for obtaining good quality raw materials and staggered production, which is counter-seasonal to the Northern Hemisphere.
