About Chile

Chile – China FTA
During 2014, the commercial interchange between Chile and China reached US$ 32,671 million, representing a 24% of the Chilean foreign trade.
From China’s point of view, Chile is the 24th provider and the 33rd buyer on the partners ranking of 2014, with 1.08% participation on total imports and 0.56% exports in China.
During 2014, Chilean exports reached US$18,437 million. Today, China is the first commercial partner of Chile on total exports, the second on non-copper shipments, with US$ 4,215 million in 2014, and a 6% more than the previous year.
The main food and drink exports to China are fresh cherries, fresh grapes, blueberries, apples, kiwi, seaweed, salmon and trout, bottled red wine, pork meat, among others.

Chile, Sustainable fishery and aquaculture
Chilean fishery and aquaculture have grown exponentially over the last 30 years as a result of strong production and international positioning. Chile is known worldwide for its extensive coastline, by the purity of its waters and highly nutritional marine resources.
This country is known for its abundant natural marine resources, thanks to its location in the South Pacific and the Humboldt Current running through its waters, rich in phytoplankton all of which allows diversified fishing and aquaculture operations.
Chile has strict regulations for introducing exotic fish, disease control, drug use and maintenance of the environmental conditions in the macro zones where aquaculture is developed. All of which is subject to frequent reviews by respective authorities, with support from the national scientific community and international experts.
High quality and reliable seafood due to excellent environmental and sanitary conditions for production, coupled with the country’s export orientation, allows the products showcased by companies in the Chilean pavilion at China Fisheries and Seafood Expo 2014 to be the best choice for high demanding markets. Hence, products as varied as mussels, scallop, salmon, rainbow trout, squid, red abalone, Chilean king crab, stone crab, australis and Chilean hake.

Chilean Seafood Exports to the World
In 2014, Chilean seafood exports to the world reached USD 6,170 million, increasing in a 17% compared with 2013. Between January and August of 2015, Chilean seafood exports to the world exceeded the US$ 3,377 million.

Seafood exports from Chile to China reached US$ 393 million in 2014. Between January and August of 2015, Chilean seafood exports to China exceeded the US$ 181 million.
