FRESH VEGETABLES
Vegetables are grown in the open air and under glass and are destined for fresh consumption and for processing by the agro-industry (to make frozen, dehydrated, tinned or juice products).
The principal vegetables for fresh consumption are lettuce, onions, garlic, tomatoes, squash and carrots, while those grown for the agro-industry include corn, tomatoes, artichokes, green beans, asparagus and bell peppers. Vegetables are grown throughout the length of Chile, thus enabling year-round availability.
