“Foods from Chile” debuts at Chile Week China 2015
Chile arrived in China loaded with food, business, and activities. For a week, Chilean officials, trade associations, businesses and artists were in Shanghai and Beijing for Chile Week China, which culminated in the first Flavors of Chile, Asia Route event.
Over 50 activities were held in order to strengthen ties with China as Chile’s foremost trading partner and to celebrate 45 years of diplomaticrelations. On 23 August, the activities began at Jian’An Park with an event attended by former President of Chile Eduardo Frei, Chile’s Ambassador to China, Jorge Heine, Agriculture Undersecretary, Claudio Ternecier, and Chile’s Vice Trade Minister, Andrés Rebolledo. They were accompanied by the Vice Governor of the Jung’An district, Deng Xiadong.
Activities related to the food sector were held with Chinese businesspeople in Shanghai and Beijing, including workshops on tourism, wine and pisco, and fruit, trade seminars, formal dinners, visits to important companies, and meetings with local officials.
A special Foods from Chile food truck event was held in Beijing. Chinese consumers were given an opportunity to learn about some of our food products, try them in traditional Chinese dishes, and taste Chilean recipes. Over 2,000 portions were served at the event to the delight of the Chinese consumers.
