Chilean foods on show at Chile Day in Yaroslavl, Russia
Chile went to visit the city of Yaroslavl in Russia on the weekend of 8 and 9 April. A delegation led by Chile’s Ambassador to Russia, Juan Eduardo Eguiguren, and ProChile’s Trade Attaché in Russia, José Campusano, carried out a series of activities that included a round table with business people, technical visits to retail chains and a gala dinner to showcase the flavours of Chile.
The objective of this activity was to raise awareness about Chile and its food products in a market that has shown a preference for our produce and which is one of our 20 principal export markets.
“Today 99% of our shipments to Russia are food products. ProChile’s Trade Office in Russia is constantly looking for new opportunities to show our products and everything that Chile has to offer. We have also seen an increase in the export of Chilean services to Russia, which shows that this is a market where there is still room for Chile to grow”, said Chile’s Trade Attaché in Russia, José Campusano.
As part of the international food promotion campaign “Foods from Chile, Source of Life”, a round table with 40 business people from the food industry was organized by the Trade Attaché. It looked at the great range of products Chile can offer to consumers in Yaroslavl. At the event, there were tastings of sparkling and still wine and other Chilean products.
The “Chile Day” gala dinner took place in one of the city’s best restaurants and was attended by 75 guests. The participants were able to try different dishes made with seafood and lamb and enjoy still and sparkling wines and pisco from Chile.
“The high level of attendance at this event reveals that people in Russia are very interested in finding out about our products. Yaroslavl is a region with more than 600,000 inhabitants. It was founded in 1010, 130 years before Moscow. It has great industrial potential and ranks as one of the best places in Russia in terms of quality of life. Today the Russian companies gave us a warm welcome and were interested in what we had to offer”, highlighted Campusano
There was a previous version of Chile Day in February this year in the city of Toliatti, which has a population of around 800,000. On the occasion, there was a presentation about Chilean food and wine, attended by representatives of the HORECA channel and opinion leaders.
