Chile
Chile is located in South America and is bordered by Peru to the north and Bolivia and Argentina to the east. Lined from north to south by the Andes mountain chain, Chile extends as far as the Antarctic continent and its coasts are bathed by the Pacific Ocean.
Its geographic location and natural barriers allow Chile to produce innocuous, high-quality food products with international guarantees, natural flavours, and reliable traceability information. Today Chile is world-renowned in the food industry thanks to the technological developments implemented by companies in this sector to monitor production processes in accordance with strict quality standards. These enable them to produce trustworthy, certified products that meet market needs.
Chile is now the world’s largest exporter of food industry products like prunes, dehydrated apples and frozen salmon fillets. It is also the world’s second biggest exporter of frozen raspberries, frozen turkey pieces, agar-agar, unshelled hazelnuts and frozen swordfish fillets and the third biggest exporter of raisins, walnuts, salt, seaweed, inulin and apple juice (brix > 20).
Chile has 26 trade agreements in place with 64 markets, which together represent 64.1% of the world’s population and 86.3% of global GDP.

Chile at Gulfood 2017
Chile will again attend the Gulfood trade fair, together with 17 companies that export food industry products like shelled and unshelled walnuts, raisins and other dried fruits like prunes, peaches and apricots, as well as concentrated juices, fruit and tomato pulp, nuts such as chestnuts, almonds and hazelnuts and pulses like lupini beans and, for the first time, honey.
Honey constitutes Chile’s principal export of livestock products. In fact, 90% of the honey we produce, mainly from native forest areas, is set aside for export, principally to the European Union. We comply with strict quality standards to guarantee the honey’s traceability, innocuity and quality and to meet the requirements of different markets.
Taking part in this trade fair is very important for Chile, as it is the foremost event for food industry products in the Middle East and we aim to continue diversifying exports and export markets. In particular, we are looking at the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

We also want to boost products with increased added value, like concentrated fruit and vegetable juices and mineral water, which grew 405% and 56% respectively between January and November 2016 compared to the same period in 2015.
